This is the second time we’ve stayed at The Getaway. It’s the perfect location high atop a hill with a great view of Mt. San Jacinto, near Palm Springs and a plethora of hiking trails. The rooms are creatively decorated to make one feel like they’re inhabiting a 1960’s vacation apartment straight out of the vintage Playboy magazines left conveniently available. Eric, our host, was accessible and very attentive.

We spent a week in unit #4 and loved it, wished we could stay longer. Eric has everything you could possibly need available in the suite. The character and charm of The Getaway will bring us back next time we’re in the area. Highly recommend.

The Getaway is the perfect place to stay in the desert for the weekend. It is perfectly clean and beautifully furnished with all the amenities needed for a multiple-day stay. I would highly recommended The Getaway to anyone coming to the desert! Definitely will be back!

I stayed at the Getaway for my 30th birthday with a group of friends, and I have to say this property was perfect. There was so many fun, retro details to all the rooms which went perfectly with our 70s theme. All the rooms were equipped with anything you’d need which made it very convenient. Eric was very on top of communication and even was able to accommodate an early check-in which really eased the stress of preparing to have guests. 10/10 would recommend this property. We had the best time and all my guests were raving about the location. Thanks again, Eric! Hope to visit again.

Our stay at The Getaway was great. We were looking for a place that would work for a big group. This place was perfect. We were able to rent out the entire place to enjoy the pool and still maintain privacy. Eric made sure to provide all information up front and was available for questions during our stay. The listing was accurate which is a big relief when renting. We would definitely return.

My family of 3 and our small dog spent 4 days at The Getaway. It was great. Beautiful views, comfy unit, close to Palm Springs and Joshua Tree. Eric was a wonderful host and provided lots of information about the area. We will definitely be back.

A group of 12 of us stayed at The Getaway for the weekend and had an amazing stay! The check-in process was extremely easy as the rooms have keyless entry. Each room was decorated a little differently and we loved the variety. There was very clearly special attention to detail in the decor and the old school feel of the place was really cool. Each room has a little kitchen area which is stocked with pots, pans and condiments, all of which make cooking for our group very easy. Temperatures were in the triple digits when we visited but there was sufficient shade in the courtyard and with the A/C on the rooms were cool enough that we were comfortable the whole time. Finally Eric was a great host and was very easy to work with. The booking process felt very organized and he was extremely responsive. If we are ever back in the area we would absolutely stay at The Getaway again!

Had a great stay in January. The property has a beautiful view of Palm Springs and the snow capped mountains. The room was clean, spacious, well decorated, comfortable, quiet, and had all the basics for cooking. My wife and I chose this property due to it’s close proximity to hiking in Joshua Tree, to the Spas (a great one was practically across the street), and Downtown Palm Springs.

It was great, this is not your average hotel room. We were able to bring our two dogs. Eric was gracious and made sure we had every thing we needed. Loved the nostalgic home decor, pool and hot tub right out our door. I highly recommend The Getaway.

The Getaway has an amazing view! Close to Palm Springs and other area attractions. My boyfriend and I were very pleased with our accommodations. We also thought the apartment was tastefully designed and budget friendly. We’d definitely stay here again, five stars!!

We rented out the entire property for a friend’s birthday and it did not disappoint! The property is just as advertised, if not even better. All of the 5 rooms were essentially mini apartments and each had their own unique vibe. We came during a heat wave and was worried about the AC but it worked great. Plenty of shade near the pool and the building is set up so that it blocks the wind. Eric was very easy to work with and super responsive. Would highly recommend staying here. We will hopefully be back soon!

We loved our stay! Eric was a great host. The room and pool were very clean and welcoming. First time staying in Desert Hot Springs vs Palm Springs but we were still so close to everything it didn’t make a difference. We will be back!

Super charming, family friendly spot to get away from everything. No need to leave, we had everything we needed and more. We were pleasantly surprised by the amenities: pool towels and floaties, board games, record players with an awesome record collection, books, vintage magazines, vintage cookware and anything you could possibly need in the kitchen (serving trays, bakeware, toasters, juicers, champagne buckets, tupperware.. you name it, they have it). The apartments were spacious and private. The owner was very quick to respond to questions, communication was 5 stars! We will definitely be back. Highly recommend!

Wonderful mid-century micro-motel from the 1960’s, which has been carefully restored with tons of wonderful vintage KnickKnacks to add to the experience of each room. Great secluded location with a wonderful view of the desert (About a twenty minute drive from Palm Springs), as well as great communication with the property manager. Would definitely stay here again!

Traveling through Palm Springs and wanting to explore Joshua Tree National Park, we chose this amazing desert getaway and enjoyed our stay. It’s convenient to Palm Springs and JT. The Getaway is a tranquil oasis. The rooms are spacious and as Eric’s photos show, everything (except the HD flatscreen tv) is out of the 50’s. Check-in was easy and the kitchen well-equipped. Even a coffee grinder and French press. Lots of towels and blankets. And a record player and collection of 50’s records! All our fellow guests were nice and kept quiet. We would definitely come back if we were in the area again.

We quite enjoyed our stay here. Spacious and very clean. The bedroom was large and there is a full kitchen. The living room couch converted nicely into a bed for our eight year old. Lots of vintage touches in the decorating. I also must note the heating and AC worked really well and quickly.

We stayed at Eric’s place for 5 nights. The place was clean and perfect for a stay in Palm Springs. We were able to check in early and the process was very quick and simple. Eric was very responsive to emails before and during our stay. We would definitely stay there again.

The Getaway has amazing style and furniture. Eric really knows how to decorate and keep his guests entertained. The apartment was very roomy and bigger than I expected. It is only about a 15-20 min drive to downtown Palm Springs. The pool was nice and clean and it felt extremely private. I will definitely stay here again!

Had a great stay in Desert Hot Springs at the Getaway. Really nicely located, close enough to Palm Springs, but easy to get out to other desert destinations and attractions! Loved the MCM design and styling of the place, would definitely stay again when we are in the area.

The unique touches in the space were fun and inviting! The location and amenities at The Getaway were perfect for visiting Palm Springs and DHS. The site and rooms were very clean and well maintained. The space was well lit and felt very safe for solo travelers. I definatetly will plan to stay again.

The GetAway is a very special quiet resort in Desert Hot Springs. Only 5 apartments that reflect the 1960’s style for when the resort was built. The pool and hot tub are steps away from your apartment. All immaculate!! For me the beauty of the desert and the quiet area was the best. The stars and full moon were spectacular.
