The drinking water (which comes right out of the tap) has been rated best and 2nd best in the world for several years running.
For modest fees, guests can obtain day passes from nearby spas that offer some of the best thermal mineral baths and spa treatments in the Desert Hot Springs area. Tuscan Springs is within walking distance, and less than 10 minutes away are Two Bunch Palms Resort & Spa and the Desert Hot Springs Hotel & Spa — both featuring spa treatments, good restaurants, and occasional live entertainment.
The Getaway apartments are freeway close, on bus lines, near shopping, grocery stores, and restaurants. It’s a 15 minute drive to Palm Springs, 30 minutes to Joshua Tree, 2 hours to San Diego or Los Angeles, and 20 minutes to the best discount shopping at the Cabazon Outlet Mall. Two of the areas premiere golf courses are less than a 5 min drive. Nearby is a city park with tennis and basketball courts, a baseball field, and skating course.
The Getaway is a perfect destination for family reunions, bachelor/bachelorette parties, micro-weddings, and Snowbirds. Wow. What a wonderful place to stay. Close to Joshua Tree and Palm Springs. Breakfast out by the pool with a mountain view and evening drinks watching the lights below in the valley. Beautifully decorated, clean and quiet. Nice strong shower, soft towels and great bedding. Slept like a baby. Having stayed in vacation rentals around the world, your host can make or break your stay. Eric was responsive, kind and a perfect host. We will be back and would highly recommend!
The Getaway is a great place to visit! The property is very well maintained and clean. The unit we stayed in is well furnished with mid century furniture. The details are terrific, old magazines, fully stocked kitchen, towels, good bedding. This property is obviously a labor of love for the host, Eric. I’m a stickler for a clean hotel to stay in and I’m sensitive to anything that would bump up against this requirement. Nothing did at The Getaway. It’s clean! clean! clean! My Wife and I will be back!
Fabulous host, communication was perfect through the stay. He made sure we were comfortable and had all the things we needed. The apartment was absolutely adorable. The grounds were very well kept. When we come back to town this is where we will stay. Great for large groups, close to everything. Excellent price.
My boyfriend and I wanted to get away for the weekend and looked for a comfortable and interesting place to stay. We found just that with The Getaway. We walked in and my boyfriend said “mid-century modern, I love it!” This spot was so pretty, quiet, comfortable, very clean, and an easy drive to downtown Palm Springs and Joshua Tree. I highly recommend.
Our stay at The Getaway was great. We were looking for a place that would work for a big group. This place was perfect. We were able to rent out the entire place to enjoy the pool and still maintain privacy. Eric made sure to provide all information up front and was available for questions during our stay. The listing was accurate which is a big relief when renting. We would definitely return.
The Getaway is really what it says on the box. You wake up to a perfect view of Mt San Jacinto, and the valley stretched out below where Palm Springs lies. The accommodation itself is superb. Every bit of detail has been thought about. It is like stepping back in time to a chic but cool 1950’s holiday unit. The decor and little touches make it feel as if you are returning to your own holiday home: magazines, books, music, board games. A good sized lounge, kitchen, bedroom and bathroom. Then there is the pool area which is a sheltered sunny spot to lie and enjoy the quiet of the desert. We also met the lovely owner Eric who pointed out places to visit in the area. We took his advice and had an unforgettable weekend. Highly recommend.
I’m so glad I found this place. Stayed for a week while on a course. It really felt like my home away from home. Fully equipped kitchen, so it’s easy to cook properly at home. Lovely retro vibe and lots of quirky additionals like magazines and design books from the sixties. Very clean, everything worked. Comfortable bed. Quiet part of town at the top of the hill, with an amazing vista out over the town and valley towards Palm Springs. Eric the owner is a lovely guy and super helpful.
Loved the mid-century apartment. It was super clean and comfortable, furnished in mid-century style, including a kitchen with everything we needed. Easy access to Joshua Tree and Palm Springs. The pool area was great, too, with mountain views. Dedicated off-street parking right in front of the building. The neighborhood was very quiet.
The Getaway is our favorite place to stay in the desert. The mid-century modern vibe is beautifully done both outside and in. The rooms are all very comfortable. Over the years we have tried them all. Often it is just my wife and I, but last year we took over most of rooms and the whole family celebrated Thanksgiving with my 96 year old mother who lives in Desert Hot Springs. The location is great and the views are breathtaking. Eric is a gracious, thoughtful, and wonderful host.
I really enjoyed my stay. The property is just as described and was really lovely. I had a restful and relaxing time. The owner Eric made everything easy —from first booking to final departure. He communicated clearly and in a timely manner. His caring really showed I look forward to returning in the future.
Eric was the perfect host. Answered all my questions promptly. Cute place and perfect for our trip. Loved the area and the pool area was great. Hoping for warmer weather but sat around the pool and enjoyed the sun while Ohio was getting snow
